A correction is needed to a Local News in Brief Item in Thursday’s edition. The Greater Huntington Symphonic Band and Jazz Band will present a free spring concert at 7 p.m. May 10 in the Spring Valley High School Auditorium.
The concert band will perform several popular and symphonic selections while the jazz band will perform straight jazz and Big Band music.
The band is made up of volunteer musicians from throughout the tri-state area and rehearses weekly at Vinson Middle School in Huntington.
The concert band is conducted by Matt Chaffins, who is also the band director at Chesapeake High School. Tom Chaffin, a retired longtime local band director, conducts the Jazz Band.
