Kentucky Christian University's men's basketball team returned to the court for their final game of 2018 and it was going to be an uphill battle as they took on the No. 7 ranked Bulldogs of Union College.
Union proved to be very worthy of their lofty ranking as they handed the Knights a 117-96 home loss.
On an afternoon when the Knights shot .569 from the floor and an amazing 15-30 (.500) from the arc, KCU just couldn't handle the relentless effort on both ends of the court by the Bulldogs. Union had nine players that saw 11+ minutes of action and shot .583 from the floor to match the Knights shooting production. But it was the 19 additional shots the Bulldogs were able to get that doomed KCU's chances of gaining the upset.
Owens Crawford led KCU in scoring with 29 pts on 12-16 shooting with 2-3 from the arc. Joining Crawford with 20+ points was Connor Maddox with 24 who hit six 3-pointers while going 9-14 from the floor overall. Two other Knights reached double figures during the game as Travis Weaver went 5-6 from the floor with four 3s for 14 pts and Ethan Leist was credited with 10 points for his afternoon's work.
