Kentucky Christian University handed the Mighty Oaks a pair of losses on the first day of their weekend series. The Knights took Game 1 by a 4-1 margin and came from three runs back in the 8th inning of Game 2 (12-11) to steal a win from Oakland City.
From the circle, Lora Thompson scattered five hits over seven innings, surrendering just one run as the offense provided an early 2-run lead through three innings. OCU cut the lead in half as they plated a score in the top of the 4th, but that would be their only offense of the contest. Kentucky Christian would add two more runs in the 5th to seal the win.
Jade Spurlock led the offense as she went 2-3, scoring one run and driving in another. The trio of Sydney Houck, Taylor Jackson,
and Taylor Jording were 1-3 each with Jording (2) and Houck accounting for the remaining three RBIs produced in the game.
In Game 2, three Knights collected three hits each led by Spurlock’s 3-4 performance with five RBIs and a run scored. Right on her heels offensively was Summer Collins and her 3-5 from the plate with an RBI and four runs scored. Houck added another 3-5 in the boxscore with a run scored and three RBIs. Jackson and Gracie Robinson combined for three more hits but more importantly, four additional RBIs.
Taylor Coleman collected the win for the Knights.
