The West Carter Softball team had to rally from six runs down in the fourth inning to defeat Raceland, 10-9, on Friday.

Courtney Reynolds had only one hit throughout the contest but it came at the right time. She smacked a base hit to bring two RBIs across the plate, part of a four-run seventh inning to give the Lady Comets the one run advantage.

Pitcher Alyssa Shelton did the rest, going the distance, giving up six hits and one earned run while walking five to get the victory.

Sophomore Patience Jones paced West Carter, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and senior Brooke Callihan also went 2-4 with one RBI. Five other Lady Comets each had a hit for West Carter (1-0).

West Carter’s game against Russell at home was postponed due to inclement weather. The Lady Comets will hit the field Thursday when they travel to 62nd District rival, Morgan County. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
