The East Carter volleyball team made the trip to Lexington this past weekend to compete in the Thoroughbred Smash, a tournament that saw teams from across the state take part.

The Lady Raiders played three matches against Tates Creek, Pulaski County and Betsy Layne but fell in all three by 2-0 scores.

Against the Commodores, East fell behind early as Tates Creek won the sets (25-2, 25-9). Later in the day, they took on the Lady Maroons of Pulaski County but would also prove to be challenging as East Carter fell in straight sets (25-9, 25-12).

Against the Lady Bobcats out of the 15th Region, the Lady Raiders put up a better fight but lost the two sets in the match (25-19, 25-22).

With the losses, East Carter’s record drops to 7-7. The Lady Raiders took on Elliott County in Sandy Hook on Tuesday before traveling to Bath County to participate in the Citizen’s Bank Volleyball Throwdown.
