Matt Logan grabs a rebound in the win over Morgan County last week.

OLIVE HILL - West Carter clobbered visiting Fleming County on the boards and scored the 46-34 victory on Hop Brown Court, last Tuesday. The Comets cleaned the glass for an incredible 42-17 rebounding margin in netting the win.

It took the hosts the first three quarters to equal their fourth-period output, as Jeremy Webb’s club outscored the Panthers 23-15 in the final frame. West led 17-9 at the break after a yawner (6-2) of a second period. Fleming County took the third, 10-6.

The Comets’ bench did five points better than the visitors’ (10-5) and the locals got 17 second-chance points compared to just four by the Panthers.

Bo Thompson paced the West Carter (15-8) offense with nine points and he also shared game-high rebounding honors with teammate Chris Barker each grabbing nine boards. Barker and Joseph Lee each added eight points and Matt Logan hit for seven. Trevor Rayburn scored six and Taylor Webb and Aaron Rayburn each finished with four points.

Webb’s Comets were scheduled to host Russell last night (Tuesday) and Lewis County comes to Olive Hill this Friday, Feb. 15. West wraps up the regular reason with contests at Nicholas County this Saturday, Feb. 16, and at Ashland next Tuesday, Feb. 19.
