After a two-week hiatus from basketball action, the Lady Knights returned to the hardwood as they hosted the Bulldogs of Union College. UC earned a 92-73 win and evened their record at 6-6 while KCU fell to 4-14.
With the majority of the stats being virtually equal, one stat line immediately jumps off the page as the Bulldogs hit an amazing 13-26 (11-14 in the first half) from the 3-point line to provide the difference in the game.
Both teams shot .500 or better from the floor and KCU held a slight edge from the charity stripe (+2), but the seven additional makes from behind the arc that was literally the scoring difference.
For the Lady Knights, Sydney Foster led the way with her fourth double-double of the season. She scored 30 points (KCU/Season highs) and hauled down 10 rebounds to keep KCU within reach. Lexie Gilliland had the hot hand early and finished the game with 16 points on 4-6 shooting from the arc and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Also reaching double-digit scoring, Shelby Slone produced 11 points while being credited with four rebounds.
KCU returned to action Jan. 8 as they traveled south for three games, with the first being Pensacola Christian College.
