We would like to take this time to thank all the sponsors and all the people taking part in this year's 2018 Trade Days Event, May 31 through June 2, downtown back street Olive Hill. Without help from our sponsors and Mayor Jerry Callihan, city employees, city council and the people behind the scenes, this would not be possible at all.
Because of all the overhead costs for newspaper ads, radio ads, some local TV station ads in Carter and surrounding counties, going to other shows to promote Olive Hill Trade Days, like Lucasville, Ohio (twice a year), Maysville Kings Burley Tobacco Warehouse Show, Louisa September Fest, Ashland Poage Landing Days, Grayson Memory Days, West Liberty Sorghum Fest, Sandy Hook Tobacco Fest, Farmer's Trade Days and other shows, we thank our sponsors. Last year one magazine ad cost $900 and that is not counting $1100 for 26000 brochures that were made and passed out.
It takes probably six to eight hours at each event to talk, shake hands and pass out brochures to the crowd and vendors, inviting these people to our county and town.
We want to thank all the business owners and all the people living inside the city limits for working with the city during the three day event. Thank you.
This year Trade Days will start Thursday morning with buying, selling, trading, music and lots of fun. Friday will have buying, selling, trading, music, train rides, bouncy house and horse drawn wagon rides and lots of fun for all ages. Saturday will have all of Friday's activities, plus a kayaking and canoe trip starting at 9 a.m. at the bridge on Tygart Street, plus a fun horse show will be held at Noon on Tygart Street. A Cruise-In Car Show will start at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the First National Bank parking lot. Bring your old or new truck, car, motorcycle, etc. and show it off.
We invite everyone to attend this family event. For more information on this event, call Chris at 286-1805 or call Mick Grills at 606-316-7169.
