The public is invited to attend an opening reception for art created in the VSA Kentucky Side-by-Side program at the Grayson Gallery & Art Center, on Friday, May 24, from 6pm to 8pm. The artwork will consist of pieces created individually by the students and collaborative pieces created by each student paired with a local artist.
The Grayson Gallery & Art Center has completed a series of art classes for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, through an award from VSA Kentucky, funded through WHAS Crusade for Children.
The Side by Side Program is designed specifically for children with disabilities, to offer a series of art classes, where the students experience new art techniques and experiment with all of them.
Each student is then partnered with a local artist from the community, to create a collaborative art piece.
The art will also be on display on Saturday, May 25th from 10am – 2pm and again during the F!nal Fr!day Artwalk on May 31 from 6pm to 9pm.
