Get ready for the sounds of Bluegrass to ring across Carter County when the 17th annual Carter County Shrine Club Bluegrass Festival gets underway July 19.

The event, to take place at the Olive Hill Shrine Park, will begin on the 19th and continue through July 21 with nearly 25 bands scheduled to perform.

Music will begin Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Mauk Family and continue that evening until 11 p.m. Friday’s shows will start with a performance by Scott Tackett and Kentucky Sunrise at 12:30 p.m. and Saturday will begin at 11:45 a.m. with Bottom Line. Among other artists scheduled to perform are EK Railroad, Darvin Sturgill and Willow Creek, J.D. Crowe and the New South, IIIrd Tyme Out, Ralph Stanley II and Tom T. Hall.

Also to make appearances are Sandy Knipp, as heard on WMKY 90.3, The Bo-Man, WSIP 98.9 and American Bluegrass, and the Bluegrass Clowns Mikey P and Cap’n Figgy WGOH 1370. There will be daily 50/50 drawings available from Carter County Shrine Club members.
