FADE Task Force officers arrested Drew Evans Lane, 31, of 416 Allen Avenue, Morehead on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

He was brought to the Carter County Detention Center at 7:37 p.m. and charged with two counts of engaging in organized crime/criminal syndicate.

His bond was set at $75,000 full cash on those charges.

“As a result of an ongoing investigation by another agency, UNITE detectives conducted a search warrant at 416 Allen Avenue in Morehead on Jan. 15. There they found some marijuana, Valium pills and a sawed-off shotgun,” said Dale Morton, UNITE communications director.

According to his arrest report at the Carter County jail, Lane was later served with a second warrant on charges of attempted murder.

Bond was set at $100,000 full cash on the second warrant.

Lane’s arraignment was held Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Carter County District Court where he pled not guilty. Representing him was Attorney Michael R. Campbell.

According to court records, bond was posted for Lane on Jan. 22.

A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 28, 2008.

In other District Court news for Jan. 23, an arraignment was held for Rhonda Burchett. She was arrested for engaging in organized crime – criminal syndicate (F) (B) and bail was set at $75,000 on January 15. A public defender was appointed and a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 28, 2008.

Stanley J. Harper was also in District Court Jan. 23, for an arraignment, being charged with engaging in organized crime-criminal syndicate (F) (B) – His bond was set at $75,000 on Jan. 15. He entered a not guilty plea and a preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 28.
