Welding Instructor Mike Oppenheimer recently provided a glimpse at a custom bicycle rack designed and fabricated by students at Carter Career & Technical Center in Olive Hill.
Funded by a grant from Rotary International through the Grayson Rotary Club, CCTC students working on the first bike rack have been given “as much hands-on work as possible,” Oppenheimer said.
Student welders and metal workers will add a few touches and polish up their one-of-a-kind bike rack before painting it blue and yellow, reflecting Rotary International's designated colors.
Paint for the rack is being purchased locally at Gibb’s True Value Hardware, whose owners have pledged additional paint for future bike racks. (Photo by Tim Preston)
