The All Creatures Veterinary Care Open House is an event that the proprietor, Dr. Donald Gibson and his wife, Cindy Gibson, started doing “about seven years ago,” Donald Gibson said. It was just a way for the clinic to reach out to the community and give back, while also educating children about animals and proper animal care. They started the event shortly after moving to their current location at 406 East Main Street, in Grayson, they said.

Next year will mark their 25th anniversary in business, and Donald Gibson said they hope to have a bigger event to mark the occasion.

“We're probably going to make a big one out of that one,” he said. One possibility they are looking at is extending the event for an extra day.

The event has become about more than just the animal clinic too, they said. Their exotic animals on show come in from Honey Hill Farms, while they also now lend space to the Carter County Animal Shelter to show off dogs they have available for adoption.

“Our local FFA chapters, both East and West Carter, they come and help provide the domestic animals for the petting zoo,” Gibson said. The FFA kids also help out with running the pony rides, which are provided by Honey Hill Farms as well.

“It's really just to give back to the community.”
