SANDY HOOK – A Russell man was indicted recently in Elliott County Circuit Court on the charge of murder after a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred in Bruin last year.
Chad Sansom, 24, was arrested by Kentucky State Police. Authorities said a grand jury indicted the man on the charge of murder following an investigation of an accident that occurred in 2018.
“Alcohol is a factor in this collision,” Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Trooper Scott Ferrell said.
Ferrell said the murder charge was the result of the alleged alcohol intoxication, and the grand jury indicted based on the evidence brought forth by the investigation.
On May 19th, 2018 at 4:43 a.m Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead was notified by Elliott County Dispatch of a two-vehicle fatal collision on Kentucky Highway 7 in Bruin, said a press release.

Authorities said Sansom was traveling south bound on KY 7 in a black 2015 Dodge pickup, when he crossed the center line and struck a gray 2014 Chevy Cruze driven by Marsha Harper, 50, of Olive Hill, who was traveling north, said a press release.
Sansom was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington for treatment. Harper was pronounced deceased at the scene, said a press release.
