FLEMINGSBURG – Drainage repairs on KY 773 south of Hitchins in Carter County will again temporarily close part of the state highway On Thursday, Nov. 21.
Crews will close KY 773 at Allen Road (milepoint 8.7) south of Denton from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a pipe replacement. While the road is closed, traffic should detour using KY 1 and KY 1496 through Willard and Lawrence County.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
People who use KY 773 to travel between Denton and Hitchins may want to prepare for alternate routes next week.
Allen Blair, with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways District 9, issued a release today (Friday) noting that sections of State Route 773 will be closed between the two communities on Tuesday and Wednesday of the coming week, for drainage repairs.
On Tuesday, November 19, crews from the state department of highways will close SR 773 between Gum Branch, at mile marker 6, and Crum Cemetery Road (County Road 1104). The road will be closed for the replacement of a cross drain under the roadway.
On Wednesday, November 20, SR 773 will be closed at Allen Road (County Road 1154), milepoint 8.7, just south of Denton, for a pipe replacement.
Work each day is expected to last from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
While the work is ongoing, folks who typically travel 773 between Denton and Hithcins are encouraged to detour using SR 1 and SR 1496 through Willard and Lawrence County.
