Gary Everman Jr., 37, of Grayson was arrested Thursday by Kentucky State Police on the charges of attemptive murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, serving a parole violation warrant and failure to appear. Everman Jr. is being detained at the Carter County Detention Center.

GRAYSON – A Grayson man was arrested at a local residence on Thursday afternoon after state police said he allegedly shot his father in the back of the head. 
 
Gary Everman Jr., 37, of Grayson was arrested Thursday by Kentucky State Police in the 800 block of Rockhouse Road in Grayson on the charges of attempted murder (domestic violence) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to police reports. 
 
Kentucky State Police Post 14 responded to a report at approximately 2 p.m. that Gary Everman Sr. had allegedly been shot by his son, according to police reports. 
 
The father was transported to Urgent Care in Grayson by his brother, while several troopers and detectives went to the residence to speak with Everman Jr., according to police reports.
 
When authorities approached Everman Jr. he was walking down the driveway and allegedly said “I shot my dad in the head...”, according to police reports.
 
The shooting was witnessed by Everman Sr.'s brother, according to police reports. 
 
Everman Jr. is scheduled to be arraigned in Carter County District Court Monday at 1 p.m. in front of Judge Rupert Wilholt.
