The Lady Raiders volleyball team went 1-1 last week.

On Tuesday, East took down West Carter on the road 2-1.

The Lady Comets grabbed the first set with a 25-20 win, but East battled backed to win the second and third sets.

“After we got started we played decent,” Coach Cathy Harris said. “We are young and have our moments when we communicate well, and moments when we don’t.”

The win gave East the first seed in the District, guaranteeing the Lady Raiders a trip to the Regional Tourament.

East traveled to Ashland Blazer on Thursday and suffered a 2-0 loss. The Kittens grabbed twin 25-14 wins in both sets.

“We weren’t prepared for Ashland,” Harris said. “Ashland had some great hitters. We dug really well, but we were just volleying back over to them. Ashland has the best team I have seen this season. They play together very well.”

The Lady Raiders hit the road Tuesday (after press time) for a face off with Greenup.

“I expect my girls to have some offense,” Harris said in a pre-game interview. “We have not been hitting, just passing over the net. We have been digging it up well with the hitters but not placing the offense there.”

East returns to their home court on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. match up with Russell.
