Drugs touch many lives - Week 15

Oct. 31, 2007 Editor’s Note: This is a series of first-hand accounts of lives touched by drugs here in Carter County The names will be changed to protect identity.

I have been reading the drug stories each week and it is heartbreaking.

I live in a small community and we have a neighbor that has been on drugs for some time now.

A few years ago this lady was an attractive, intelligent person and now she is someone to be pitied. If any of you young people could have seen her than and see her now you would not have the nerve to take that first pill. To see what she has become is sickening. She is a liar and a thief. She looks like death warmed over. She’s mean and hateful; her speech is so slurred that she can’t even carry on conservation. She has trouble trying to balance herself when she walks. She constantly falls asleep and she has not one friend left.

Of course, she will not admit that she is addicted because her drugs are prescription.

All you people out there, this is your future with drugs. This is what you have to look forward to so please, think long and hard before you take that first hit.

YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS!

NOTE: Those who are or have been addicted to drugs or have suffered loss due to the drug addiction of others are invited to send their story to mhogan@journal-times.com fax to 474-0013 or 286-4201, or drop off at the Grayson or Olive Hill offices.
