01/23/13 — Walter Swint, 81, of Grayson passed away Sunday January 20, at his residence.
He was born January 28, 1931, the son of Valentine Henry Swint and Hazel Felty Swint.
Walter was retired from Ashland Oil Refinery, was an Airforce Veteran, and was a member of Welsh Tract Primitive Baptist Church in Huntington, W.VA. He volunteered with the Carter County Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry and was always ready to help anyone who needed him at a moment’s notice.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Swint; brother Cecil Swint, and his sister Darlene Flanery.
He is survived by his daughter Juanita (John) Napier of Grayson; son Walter (Teresa) Swint of Wurtland, KY, brother Ray (Wanda) Swint of Olive Hill, KY; Grandchildren, Joshua Napier and fiancé Stephanie Hall of Grayson, KY, Brad (Christina) Swint and son Ryland of Corbin, KY, and Christa Swint of Grayson, KY; step-grandchildren, John (Joann) Napier, David (Della) Napier, and Sarah (Michael) Gearhart. He also had several step-great-grandchildren but was especially close to Rusty Napier, Joseph Napier, Aiden Hall, and Stormy Hall; his nieces Ruth Ann (Bud) Baier and Jane Ann (Willie)Warren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday January 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Elder John Napier and Elder Marvin Fulton. Burial will follow in East Carter Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 24 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Napier, Rusty Napier, Michael Gearhart, Willie Warren, Ray Swint, Michael Fulton, and Joseph Napier.
