Martha Geneva Fox was born on Nov. 11, 1933, to Mirtie and Hobart Fox in Bristol, Va., and passed away on June 16, 2013, in Irmo, S.C., after a long illness.
She grew up in Bristol, Va., and Canton, Ohio, where she attended Dixon Israel High School in Eaton, Ohio. She was active as a cheerleader and majorette and graduated in 1953.
Martha met the love of her life, Lou "Buddy" Griffey, and they were married on Oct. 3, 1953. They settled in Vandalia, Ohio, and raised two children.
Martha loved being a homemaker, traveling and camping with her family. She was a member of The Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed decorating, selling "Home Interiors" and shopping with friends for a good bargain. She and Lou renewed their wedding vows in 1971.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law, Guy Bergeret.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Griffey and his wife Kim of Irmo, S.C.; her daughter, Holly Bergeret of Reno, Nev.; granddaughter, Meghan Griffey of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Clifford Fox of Johnson City, Tenn., Larry Morgan and his wife Carol of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Gail Morgan and his wife Sheryl of Pasco, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Garvin Ridge Cemetery, Ky. 1078, Olive Hill.
Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
