04-19-12 — Mr. Sammy Lynn Roar, 64, of Grahn, passed away Saturday morning, November 3, 2012, in the Prestonsburg Health Care Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born June 29, 1948, in Carter County, a son of the late Melvin and Othel Madeline Gilliam Roar.
Sammy was of the Christian faith and loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Roar; two sisters, Nellie Caudill and Betty Hall; and several infant sisters.
Sammy is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Brenda Roar of Dayton, Ohio, David and Rosemary Roar of Olive Hill, and Tommy Jo and Kathy Roar of Grahn; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and David Humphries of Olive Hill; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Jason Johnson and Brother Dewayne Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Valandingham Cemetery in Grahn.
Friends visited from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, and until the service hour at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
