Nina Mae Kottcamp Sparks

3/18/14 — Nina Mae Kottcamp Sparks, 61, of Halfway Branch in Olive Hill, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born April 13, 1952, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Lotchell Ford and Lena Marie Jordan Kottcamp.

Nina attended Oakland Christian Holiness Church and retired from the Carter County Board of Education as a cook at Carter Elementary School. She enjoyed sewing, reading, working in her flowers, having cookouts and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Fannie Marie Kottcamp.

Nina is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph "Bud" Sparks; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Anthony and Jennifer Sparks of Olive Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae and Donnie Buckler of Olive Hill; six grandchildren, Joseph Donovan Buckler, Jessica Nicole Buckler, Jacob Aaron Buckler, Jarrod Dwayne Buckler, Makaila Lashae Sparks and Amber Renee Sparks; and one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Joy Kottcamp of Coopersville, Mich. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix with Brother Raymond Steagall officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery on Cooper Ridge in Carter County.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, and until the service hour Thursday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, 7975 Lower Kinney Road, Vanceburg, KY 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
