March 14, 2013 — Mrs. Rosa Perry, age 97, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday evening, April 29, 2014, at Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson.
She was born December 14, 1916, in Armstrong, the second child and only daughter of the late Daniel Nelson and Ida Jane Mullins Perry.
Rosa met and married the love of her life, Dan Perry. They shared over 61 years of marriage and together they reared six children. In the spring Rosa and her family planted their garden and cared for it through the harvest. She fed her family and friends for the next year from her harvest. Through the garden of life Rosa sowed her seeds of much love, kindness, hope and faith. Now in the fall of her life on April 29, 2014, she has reaped her harvest of eternal life with her heavenly father. She will be greatly missed by her earthly family. But we rejoice in the promise that she is with her heavenly family and her father Jesus Christ.
Rosa was a member of the First Christian Church of Olive Hill for over 60 years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dan Perry; one daughter, Joyce Ann Perry Nichols; three brothers, Elliott Perry, John Perry, and Simeon Perry; and one son-in-law, Gene Case.
Rosa is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. "Bill" and Carolyn Perry and Dan Nelson and Garnet "Von" Perry, all of Olive Hill,; three daughters and son-in-law, Idabelle Perry Case of Olive Hill, Willa Jean Perry Shafer and Rollan of Winchester, Phyllis Dee Perry of Florence; son-in-law, Dennis Ray Nichols of Madison, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly miss her.
