04/28/14 — Wayne Bailey, 80, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday morning, April 25, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Carter County, a son of the late Willard and Ada Barker Bailey.
Wayne was of the Baptist faith and retired from the brickyard industry. He enjoyed hunting, doing mechanical work on cars and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruby Mosier Bailey, and two brothers, Marvin Bailey and Larry Bailey.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Sue Griffey Bailey; one son, Myron Bailey of Olive Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Bernice and John Porter of Ashland; two grandchildren, Alexander Porter and Emily Nicole Porter, both of Ashland; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Estill and Janice Bailey of Olive Hill, Sam and Kathy Bailey of Olive Hill and Don Albert and Sara Bailey of Paintsville; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law, Jerlene Bledsoe of Olive Hill, Jewell Garvin of Olive Hill, Carolyn Bailey of Olive Hill, Gail and Arnold Adkins of Bardstown, Janice and Edward Stevens of Olive Hill, Della Mae and Garland Knipp of Olive Hill and Joyce Ann and Mark Matthews of Grayson; one sister-in-law, Wilma Bailey of Olive Hill; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother J. C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Vanhoose Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, and until the service hour Monday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Wayne’s family will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
