05/20/13 — Clifford Ray "Kip" James, 78, of Grahn, passed away Saturday morning, May 18, 2013, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born April 24, 1935, in Carter County, a son of the late Henry and Margaret Francis Roe James.
Kip was saved at home and was associated with the James Chapel Christian Holiness Church. He was a coal miner and worked as a carpenter building houses for people. He also worked at saw mills in the area. Kip loved music and going fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Edward James, Jackie Dwayne James and Henry Lee James; one brother, the Rev. Thomas James; one sister, Carolyn Meade; and one son-in-law, Marvin Logan.
Kip is survived by his companion of 34 years, Patricia Kay Greenhill; seven sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald Ray James of Perryville, Charles Robert James of Grahn, Timothy William and Barbara James of Grahn, Clifford Scott and Brenda James of Olive Hill, Alvin Dallas James of Olive Hill, Clyde Delayne and Sandora James of Grahn, and Jason Robinson of Pikeville; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Barbara Ann and Walter Ferguson of Ashland, Loretta Lynn and Paul Dahmer of South Point, Ohio, Mary Magaline and Johnny Kitchen of Grayson, Latricia Kay Griffith of Grahn, Margie Logan of Olive Hill and Amanda Rae and Rodney Rock of Olive Hill; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three sisters, Agnes McMillen of Olive Hill, and Eythel Boggs and Evelyn Riffe, both of Elyria, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother C. J. James and Brother Matthew Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollingsworth Cemetery in Grahn.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, and until the service hour Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Shawn Terry, Scott James, Clyde James, Walter Ferguson, Rodney Rock, Amanda Rock, Daniel Logan and Matthew Logan will serve as pallbearers. Robert James will serve as honorary pallbearer.
