Curtis A. Thomas


10/14/13 — Curtis A. Thomas, 80, of Puryear, Tenn., died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in Murray-Callaway County Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Carter County, a son of the late­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Elmer and Ada (Rigsby) Thomas. He was a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church, having a dual membership of the Masonic Lodge in Buchanan and Flat Rock, Mich.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Curtis is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jessie Marie Hutchinson Thomas; a brother, Willard Thomas; and a sister, Bonnie Gogich.

He is survived by two sons, Steve Thomas of Fredrick, Md., and Curtis (Carrie) Thomas of Brownstown, Mich; a brother, John Thomas of Ashland; two sisters, Margaret Haney of Ashland and Hattie McMillian of Columbus, Ohio;  four grandchildren, Robert, Sheri, Jill and Kenny; several nieces and nephews. He loved his family and his garden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.15, 2013, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by­­ John Moore, minister. Burial will follow at the Cribbs Hill Cemetery near Grayson.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at the funeral home.  Masonic services will be at 7p.m. by Rush F&AM No. 715.
