Edward Boyd Kiser

1925-2013

03/12/13 — Mr. Edward Boyd Kiser, 87, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday morning, March 9, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Lexington.

He was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Carter County, a son of the late J. W. "Willis" and Ida Bell Owens Kiser.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church and was known as "Tater Man" for growing and selling his potatoes to many people in the area. Edward also enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting friends and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Kiser, Clyde Kiser and Kermit Kiser; and four sisters, Mayme McGlone, Golda Danner, Lillian Woodward and Lora June Fite.

Edward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen McCormick Kiser; one son and daughter-in-law, Glen Allen and Sharon Kiser of Georgetown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Jean and David Kirk of Ashland, Ohio, and Joy Denise and Ben Hammond of Hampton, Va.; seven grandsons; three great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. He also leaves many other family members, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Terrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the McGlone Cemetery on McGlone Creek in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.

Friends visited from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, and until the service hour Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

B. J. Hammond, Tommy Hammond, Chris Kirk, Jeremy Kirk, Howard Puckett, Dave Miller, Carl Fannin and Bill Perry served as pallbearers.
