05/14/13 — Donald Raymond Rose, 61, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 28, 1941, in Valparaiso, Ind., a son of the late John Peter Rose Sr. and Margaret Tucker Rose.
Donald was a member of the Olive Hill First Church of Nazerene and was retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind. He enjoyed watching trains, was an avid White Sox Baseball and UK Basketball fan and loved his cats.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Peter Rose Jr., and one half-sister, Gloria Everly.
Donald is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlotte Jones Rose; two daughters, Jennifer Rose of Porter, Ind., and Teresa Rose and her wife Deanna of Spring Hill, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew whom he thought of as a son, Mike Long of Morehead. He also leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss him. The family would like to thank his two special caregivers, Wendy Stevens and Wes Burchett.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Rob Perry and Brother James Muncy officiating. Friends may visit after noon Friday, May 17, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
A funeral service will also be at 10 a.m. (CST) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home in Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Duane Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterton Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. (CST) Monday, May 20, 2013, at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
