7/14/13 — Virgil Ellis Duncan, 83, of Olive Hill, passed away July 5, 2013, in the V.A. Hospital in Lexington following a brief illness.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired communications supervisor.
The son of the late Myrtle DeHart Duncan and Leslie Duncan, he was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory E. Duncan, and one sister, Eunice Duncan Hall.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela J. and Jimmy Adkins and Vanessa L. and Mike Lowe, all of Olive Hill; one sister, Nora May Duncan Lawson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Vernon and Jeanette Duncan and Arnold Duncan of Olive Hill; his special companion of 23 years, Carolyn Sue Keener; and special nieces and nephews and their families.
He will be missed by his extended family and friends, which include seven grandchildren, Charles Wayne (Shawnda) Adkins of Olive Hill, Briana D. (Chris) Furst of Greenup, Christopher G.(Keri) Lowe, M. Jeremy (Charity) Lowe of Olive Hill and Chad D. Duncan, Kindra M. (George) Hines and E. Danielle Duncan, all of Champaign, Ill.; and eight great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Noah, Ethan, Mackenzie, Jameson, Mason, Skyler and little Macie Marie.
Funeral services were under the direction of Waddell-Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.
Visitation and funeral services were at Olive Hill Wesleyan Church officiated by Allan Wells and Rob Perry. Burial was in Duncan Cemetery.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Ralph Lowe, Jodie Barker, Danny Lowe, Shawn Duncan, John Lawson, Jeremy Lowe, Christian Cole, Chris Perry, Ercel King and Steve Cole.
