01/09/13 — Paul Raymond Burnett, 82, of Grayson, passed away, Tuesday, January 1, 2013, following an extended illness.

Paul was born August 4, 1930, in Iron Hill, son of the late Hubert and Audrey Carroll Burnett.

He was retired from Operating Engineers Local No. 181, former owner of Paul’s Texaco Station of Grayson and a gifted mechanic for over 60 years. He was depended upon by car owners near and far. He was a member of Iron Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Burnett; a great-grandson, Dawson Manning; two brothers, Clyde Burnett and Bob Burnett; and one sister, Pauline Burnett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Bush Burnett; three sons and daughters in-law, Ronald (Susie) Burnett of Ashland, Don (Janey) Burnett and Kevin (Judy) Burnett, both of Grayson; four sisters, Louise McGlone and Garnet Messer, both of Carter City, Hazel Ruth Messer of Olive Hill and Lillie Mae Ryder of South Vienna, Ohio; two brothers, Jack Burnett of Grayson and Richard Burnett of Iron Hill; three granddaughters, Brandi (David) Manning and Nikki (Jack) Calhoun, both of Grayson, and Bethany Burnett of Ashland; one grandson, Cody Burnett of Tallahassee, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Audrey Manning, Nate Manning and Raiden Calhoun, who brightened his last years.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 4, at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnett Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 3, and after 9 a.m. Friday at Malone Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons-in-law, David Manning and Jack Calhoun, and his nephews, Tony, Mike and James Burnett, Rick McGlone, Tim Messer, Mark Morris and Mike Tussey.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Stephens and Charles Morgan.
