01/02/13 — Mr. Harold Porter, 79, of Olive Hill, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born October 3, 1933, in Carter County, a son of the late Roy and Edna Mabry Porter.
Harold was a retired truck driver and enjoyed farming. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Burl Porter, Jackie Porter and Ralph Porter.
Harold is survived by two sons, Mychael Porter of Troy, Ohio, and Harold Wesley Porter of Olive Hill; four daughters, Shelby Porter of Paintsville, Mariedna Combs of Hindman, Buridena Workman of Olive Hill and Suzette Meenach of Grayson; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Hubert "Duke" Porter and Roy D. Porter, both of Olive Hill, and Danny Ray Porter of Grayson; and four sisters, Edith Fife of Campton, Catherine Bradley of Olive Hill, Ruth Ann Brown of Ashland and Virginia Swanigan of Olive Hill. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Paul Zornes officiating. Burial will follow in the Porter Cemetery on Henderson Ridge in Elliott County.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, and until the service Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
