Glenna Ruth McGuire

May 2, 2014 — Glenna Ruth Lewis McGuire 84, of Mandeville, LA formerly of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, LA.

She was born in Carter on July 30, 1929.   She was the daughter of the late O. M. and Virgie Lewis of Carter County.

She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist in Mandeville, LA and was active before becoming ill.

Glenna had loving Christian parents and a wonderful childhood.   She grew up with six sisters and and one brother.   It was never a dull moment around the Lewis household and it seemed that everyone of her friends seemed to gather there.

She loved to sing and at one time was hoping for a career in music.   Living the good life in the country and since Carter was such a small village, friends and family seemed to gather in their home.   There were many musicians in that area and in this home you could always hear good music, singing, and candy making.

After marriage she moved to Grayson and started her family.   While living in Grayson she took an active part in the Garden Club, Church, and the Women's Club.   Later she moved to Ashland and then to Bellefonte.  She was superb at entertaining  in her lovely home.  Glenna was an avid golfer.

If you asked her today about her life, she would say that she raised four fabulous boys.   Her main job in life was met with great challenges but that was her reward for being a wonderful, caring mother. Her boys idolized her and knew that she was the most beautiful mother in the world. Her whole life was devoted to her family. At one time while living in Lexington, she had six grandchildren in UK and Transy. Even though they each had their own apartments, they could usually be found at Ma Ma's house eating a southern fried dinner. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Sister.
