Johnie Delmar Holbrook


6/19/13 — Johnie Delmar Holbrook, 80, of State Highway 955, Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Elliott County, a son of the late William and Eva Porter Holbrook.

Johnie was a Christian led to the Lord by Fred Wiles in 2007. He was a self-employed truck driver for 45 years and was a lifelong farmer. Johnie enjoyed farming, fooling with his cattle and going to the cattle market, watching NASCAR, going to the Huddle House to eat and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Larae Holbrook, and three brothers, Paris Holbrook, Carl Holbrook and Loren Holbrook.

Johnie is survived by his loving companion of 34 years, Phyllis Hutchinson; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Ray and Angela Holbrook of Morehead; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and James Hall of Mansfield, Ohio; Phyllis’s children who were like his own, Mike Hutchinson and wife Donna Sue of Grayson and Dianna Kees and husband Larry of Olive Hill; seven grandchildren, Dennis Hall, Sam Riggs, Micha Griffith, Nathan Kees, Bryan Hutchinson, Danielle Trent and Megan Holbrook; 11 great grandchildren, Brittany Kissinger, Jesse Kees, Greg Ison, Samantha Hall, Jamie Kees, Jackie Kees, Kody Hutchinson, Haley Griffith, Brady Griffith, Braxton Trent and Audreyanna Trent; two great-great grandchildren, Aydin Kissinger and Kaydin Lee Kissinger; two brothers, Clyde Holbrook of Olive Hill and Tracy Holbrook of Mansfield, Ohio; and one sister, Alfreda Cox of Olive Hill. He also leaves many other family members, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Fred Wiles and Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park.
