Bernard Landon McGlone


04/29/14 — Bernard Landon McGlone, 79, of Olive Hill, passed away Monday morning, April 28, 2014, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born March 12, 1935, in Carter County, a son of the late William "Widge" and Ethel Spencer McGlone.

Bernard was a member of Kibbey Chapel Christian Holiness Church and retired from farming and sawmill work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working at the sawmill and especially spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Arizona Back McGlone Stamper; his second wife, Emma Geneva Sparks Erwin McGlone; three infant children, David McGlone, Michael McGlone and Spencer McGlone; one great-grandchild, Alexis McGlone; and one sister, Bernice "Susie" Hamilton.

Bernard is survived by nine sons and six daughters-in-law, Junior and Beth McGlone, Ray and Beveralee McGlone, Donald and Linda McGlone, Ronnie and Teresa McGlone, Keith and Missy McGlone, Landon and Geanina McGlone, Kenny Erwin, Tommy Erwin and Michael Erwin, all of Olive Hill; two daughters, Norah McGlone and her husband John and Emily Erwin and her companion Josh Lyke, all of Olive Hill; 32 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis McGlone of Olive Hill; two sisters, Janice McGlone and Clara Beth Claxton, both of Greenup; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill with his son Donald McGlone and Brother William Logan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Emma’s Paradise Cemetery on Jordan Fork in Olive Hill.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, and until the service hour Thursday at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Kenneth Erwin, Nathan Puckett, Kevin McGlone, Russell Brown, K. P. Erwin, Caleb Whitt, Austin McGlone, Ruffus Middleton, Jamie McGlone and David Willoughby will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Erwin, Richard McGlone, Brady Martin, Levi McGlone, John McGlone, Bear McGlone, Scott McGlone, Mike Erwin, Dustin Martin, Jake McGlone, Justin McGlone, Josh Lyke, Brandon McGlone, Joe McGlone and Howard Puckett.
