Edwin Mundy

1920-2013

11/14/13 — Edwin Mundy, 93, of Olive Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Sharpsburg. He was the son of the late Albert D. and Edna (Flannery) Mundy.

He was a long-time member of the Olive Hill Methodist Church where he once served as chairman of the board and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 138 of Olive Hill and a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Mundy served in the United States Army during World War II. After World War II he assumed his full-time post as administrative supply technician at the Olive Hill National Guard Armory, a position he held for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Treda (Porter) Mundy; two sisters, Lenore Evans and Ruth Messer; and two brothers, James and Charles Mundy.

He is survived by two daughters, Jenny (Terry) Frazier of Flatwoods and Phyllis (Larry) Riddle of Ashland; one granddaughter, Ginger (John) Hardy of Flatwoods; two grandsons, David Edwin (Jill) Frazier of Johnson City, Tenn., and Andrew Niles Riddle of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one great-granddaughter, Moira Frazier of Indianapolis, Ind.; three great-grandsons, Austin Riddle, Caleb Riddle and Weston Hardy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Bob Burton, minister. Burial will follow at the East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
