03/04/13 — Mr. Thurman Boggs Jr., 83, of Olive Hill, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Carter County, a son of the late Thurman Sr. and Bessie Bear Boggs.
Thurman was a retired Carter County School employee. He enjoyed fishing, ginseng hunting, farming and spending time outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Maxine Bryant Boggs; two sons, Johnny Wayne Boggs and Carl Junior Boggs; four brothers, Dennis Boggs, Raymond Boggs, Arnold Boggs and Kenneth Boggs; and two sisters, Nancy Stinnett and Sharon Hall.
Thurman is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Wayne Lawson, Cathy Hanshaw and David Campbell and Connie Boggs, all of Olive Hill, Charlene Ratcliff of Ashland and Dana and Donald Marshall of Grayson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three brothers, Earnest Boggs of Paris, Stanley Boggs of Ashland and Billy Gene Boggs of Winchester; and one sister, Jearlean Romans of Portsmouth, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Boggs Cemetery on Boggs Road in Olive Hill with Brother David Bryant officiating.
Friends visited from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
