10/11/13 — Rita Kay Boggs Whitaker, 55, of Grayson, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in the Boyd and Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.
She was born April 9, 1958, in Webbville, a daughter of Pearl McDavid Crum of Grayson and the late Glen Franklin Boggs.
Rita was married to Scott Whitaker for 19 years last week. He has been a loving and devoted husband.
She worked at Pathways and had a Master’s Degree. She was a member of the Stinson Church of Christ and loved the Lord.
Rita had MS from the age of 25.
In addition to her husband, Scott, and mother, Pearl, she is survived by a special brother, Ronnie Gene Crum of Grayson; stepfather, Gene Crum of Grayson; two special aunts on her father’s side, Loretta Boggs Day of Glasgow and Janie Boggs Wheeler (and Willis Wheeler) of Arlington, Texas; special cousins on her mother’s side, among whom the girls were like sisters; and two special friends, Tammie Williams and Wanda Greer. Rita also had two special cats.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Malone Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Burchett officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon until the service time Sunday at the funeral home.
