8/19/13 — George Franklin Hensley, 78, of Ashland, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 18, 2013, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Olive Hill, son of the late Paul Cecil and Cloma Stevens Hensley.
George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired in 1972 with 20 years of service. He retired from Environmental Research and Technology in 1992 where he worked as an electrician. George attended the Westwood Christian Church and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sue Ann Duval Hensley; one daughter, Tambra Lee Hensley Merriman; and one brother, Paul Cecil Hensley Jr.
George is survived by three daughters, Martha Moore, Kathy Stone and Lisa Hensley, all of Ashland; seven grandchildren and their spouses, David and Bobbi Greene, Eric and Ruth Stone, Marc and Johnda Moore, Tracy and Dave Roach, Nicole and Josh Peters, Josh and Erica Stallard and Jessica Engel; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Letha Kegley of Mansfield, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother J. C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Jr. O.U.A.M. Cemetery in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends may visit after 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill.
David Greene, Marc Moore, Josh Peters, Josh Stallard, Eric Stone and David Roach will serve as pallbearers.
