Mrs. Mary Eula Morgan Hignite, 85, of Olive Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon, April 4, 2013, at her residence with her family at her bedside.
She was born Sunday, June 19, 1927, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Everett and Bertha Alexander Morgan.
Mary was a member of the Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church and enjoyed attending services throughout the county. She was a retired self-employed business owner for over 20 years at Hignite’s Sweet Shop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Stanton Hignite; one sister, Ollie Baker; two brothers, Edwin Harold Morgan and Leslie Morgan; and her sister-in-law, Helen Morgan.
Mary is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Reda Turner of Winchester, Brenda and Jerry Wilburn of Olive Hill and Mary Louise Hignite of Ashland; three granddaughters, Amanda Wilburn of Lexington, Misty Coleman of Ashland and Kimberly Woosley of Winchester; three great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves many other family members, church family and cherished friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother J. R. Hollingsworth, Brother Gary Sparks and Brother Lewis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, and until the service hour Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Leo Valandingham, Harold Dean Morgan, Michael Ray Bailey, Carl Lee Morgan, Andy Lyons and Frank Morgan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Fankell, Bill Harless and Bob Morgan.
