2/27/14 — Morris "Mick" Roe, 84, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2014, at his residence.
He was born May 21, 1929, in Carter County, a son of the late William and Judy Holbrook Roe.
Mick was of the Christian faith and a member of the Olive Hill Wesleyan Church. He loved playing music, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gladys Wells Roe; two brothers, Talmadge Roe and Ernie Roe; and one sister, Alma Patton.
Mick is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Brenda Roe of Foley, Ala., and Mike and Delorise Roe of Paintsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Butch Hanshaw of Olive Hill; seven grandchildren, Timothy Hanshaw, Melissa Hanshaw Bailey, Wesley Hanshaw, Breanna Kingsbury, Gary Michael Roe, Ashley Branham and Kimberly Handshoe; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Patton of Grayson. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Olive Hill Wesleyan Church in Olive Hill with his grandson Gary Roe and Pastor Allen Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Wells Family Cemetery on Three Pine in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the Olive Hill Wesleyan Church.
Mick’s grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Roe, Roy Roe, Willie Dee Patton and Ray Riddle.
