11/11/13 — Howard Walton, 90, of Jamestown, Ohio, formerly of Olive Hill, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in the VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. 

Howard was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Frenchburg, a son of the late John and Pearl Short Walton. 

He was retired from General Motors where he assembled refrigerators. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Globe Christian Church when in Olive Hill, was a member of the American Legion and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

Survivors left to mourn his passing include his wife, Ruby Fultz Walton of Jamestown; three sons, Dave (Ruby) Walton of Xenia, Ohio, Howard Douglas Walton of Dayton, Ohio, and Chuck (April) Evans of Jamestown, Ohio; five daughters, Kathy Jean Montgomery and Peggy McPherson, both of Washington Court House, Ohio, Sue (Mark) Chambers of Dayton, Ohio, Deanna (David) Rankin of Cleveland, Ohio, and Patricia (Richard) Burke of Hilton Head, S.C.; 20 grandchildren, including David (Nicki) Walton, Denise (John) Zatarain, Chris (Jennifer) Walton and Christina Marie (Ana) Walton-Martinez; nine great-grandchildren, including Wyatt Walton, Joe and Kaitlyn Walton, Dylan and Taylor Zatarain and Tavian and Mallorie Marie Walton-Martinez; and brother, Hollie Walton of Kettering, Ohio. 

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Globe Christian Church in Olive Hill with Pastor David Rayburn and Brother Clyde Holbrook presiding. Howard will lie in state one hour prior to service time Tuesday. 

The American Legion Post No. 138 of Olive Hill will honor Howard's service to his country at his graveside in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Olive Hill where he will be laid to rest.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Globe Christian Church. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Howard's name to Hospice of Miami Valley, 46 North Detroit Street, Suite B, Xenia, Ohio 45385, for the excellent and loving care given to Howard, as well as the aide and support given to his wife, Ruby, and family during his illness.

Family members who will honor him by serving as pallbearers are Chuck Evans, Mark Chambers, Doug Walton, David Walton, Chris Walton, Joe Walton and Dave Walton. 

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
