Mr. Eugene B. Taylor, age 89, of Garrison, passed away Saturday evening, April 7, 2012, in Edgewood Manor in Lucasville, Ohio. He was born October 22, 1922, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Michael and Hattie Bush Taylor. Eugene attended Firebrick Christian Baptist Church and was a retired construction worker. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Eugene enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Rachel Allen Taylor; one son, Eugene Taylor, Jr.; one daughter, Roxane Taylor; one brother, Walter Taylor; and one sister, Marge Hayes. Eugene is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Walter and Kim Taylor of St. Paul, Michael and Marlene Taylor of Springfield, Ohio, Cecil and Kathy Taylor of Covington, James Taylor of Quincy, and Gary and Maggie Taylor of Black Oak, one daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Larry Smith of Garrison, 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Firebrick Christian Baptist Church on Indian Hollow Road in Firebrick, Kentucky, with Brother Bill Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery on John Will Hollow Road in Greenup, with full military rites conducted by the South Shore American Legion Post No. 276.
Friends may visit after 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Firebrick Christian Baptist Church on Indian Hollow Road in Firebrick, Kentucky.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
