Steven A. Burchett

1947-2013

02/14/13 — Mr. Steven A. Burchett, 65, of Grayson, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2013, in the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, after an extended illness.

He was born March 10, 1947, in Carter County, a son of the late Woodrow and Wilma Horsley Burchett.

Steve was a Charter Member of the Ashland Plaza Church of the Nazarene, serving on the church board and numerous committees. He also served as church treasurer and Director of Wee Wisdom Daycare and Kindergarten. After moving to Grayson, he placed membership at First Church of Christ and attended Oak Grove Church of Christ. Steve retired from AK Steel after 30 years of service. At the time of his death, he was the owner and manager of Ross Real Estate Services of Grayson. Steve was a Sergeant First Class of Company B 201st Engineer Battalion National Guard in Olive Hill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Burchett.

Steve is survived by his loving and adoring wife of 47 years, Nancy Patrick Burchett; one wonderful son, Scott Burchett, and a precious daughter-in-law Franci, of Grayson; a cousin who was like a sister to him, Alyce Hammond of Olive Hill; and many other cousins, family members and friends who will sadly miss him. Steve wanted to say to all that when you all get to heaven, he will meet you at Jesus’s feet.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with the Rev. Paul Neal, Brother Denver Prater and former State Senator Charlie Borders officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery on Route 2 in Olive Hill.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, and until the service hour Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Max Hammond, Carlos Patrick, Max Hammond II, Tom Horsley, Tom Logan, Terry Horsley, Byron Hargett and Keith Hammond will serve as pallbearers.
