04/01/13 — Denny E. Burton, 72, of Ashland, formerly of Grayson, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Oakmont Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods.
He was born March 1, 1941, in Grayson, the son of the late Jay and Melinda Waggoner Burton.
He was a member of the Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church and had attended the Oak Grove Christian Church for years when living in Grayson. He was a retired crane operator for AK Steel. He was past president of the Grayson Little League and enjoyed many hobbies: bowling, fishing and training grand champion beagles to mention a few.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Burnette Burton; a son, John Aaron (Rita) Burton of Webbville; two daughters, Regina Lynn (Guy) Jackson and Deanna (Mike) Mabry, both of Grayson; a step-son, McDewey Anthony (Mapuana) Wilson of Seattle, Wash.; two step-daughters, Suzanne(Gary) Hale of Paulding, Ohio, and Angela (Bill) Papst of Lexington; two brothers, Clayton and Steve Burton of Grayson; four sisters, Fredia Conley, Ruby Doyle and Carolyn Carter, all of Grayson, and Rosemary Lloyd of Louisville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Dr. Ronnie Mayes, minister. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Visitation was Thursday, March 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
