Magdalene "Maggie" Kazee


3/05/14 — Magdalene "Maggie" Kazee, 87, of Grayson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland surrounded by her loving family.

Maggie was born Oct. 11, 1926, at Bowling Branch in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Clifford Jacob and Mollie Susan Lewis Evans. She graduated from Aken Hall in Olive Hill and then moved to Grayson.

Maggie married her husband, Strother Kazee, on Sept. 20, 1947, and together the couple went on to raise two daughters, Diana Lynn and Barbara Gail Kazee.

Maggie was a Christian of nearly 65 years, saved and baptized under W.C. Wiley. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Grayson and a current member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Leon. She served in many different areas of the church throughout her life, including Training Union, W.M.U. and as a Sunday School teacher for more than 53 years.

Maggie is survived by two daughters, Diana Lynn Boggs of Hitchins and Barbara Gail Robinson of Grayson; two granddaughters, Angelia "Angel Pie” Boggs and Johndia "Tootie" (Joe) Littleton, both of Hitchins; one grandson, John L. "Bubby" (Jennifer) Boggs of Hitchins; six great-grandchildren, Morganne Boggs, Molleigh Boggs, Hunter Littleton, Heidi Hall, Kasiae Boggs and Bryson Boggs, all of Hitchins; one brother-in-law, Ray Pennington; several nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Tucker Joe.

In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Strother Kazee in 1968; her very special son-in-law, Johnny Boggs in 2012; three sisters, Pauline Evans, Opal Evans Combs and Agnes Evans Pennington; and one brother-in-law, Shade Combs.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Malone Funeral Home with Brother Mike Rice and Brother Tim Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Boggs Family Cemetery in Hitchins.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 6, and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
