03/31/14 — Dazel Carroll Rodgers, 66, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 29, 2014, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born March 31, 1947, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Lizzie Thornsberry Carroll.
Dazel was a seamstress at Cowden Manufacturing and a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her two grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Rodgers; three brothers, Norwood "Woodie" Carroll, Zion Carroll and Tommy Carroll; and one sister, Nettie Colley Bear.
Dazel is survived by her husband of 47 years, Franklin "Frank" Rodgers; one son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Diane Rodgers of Olive Hill; two grandchildren, Adawnya Rodgers and Coty Rodgers, both of Olive Hill; one brother, Lonnie Carroll of Grayson; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nona and David Hurley of Olive Hill and Virgie and Roy Crocket of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Lonzo Horsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, and until the service hour Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Coty Rodgers, Phillip Rodgers, Jack Crocket, Glen Hedge, Jerry Moore and Jeff P’Simer will serve as pallbearers.
