Charles B. Callihan


03/31/14 — Charles B. Callihan, 94, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday evening, March 29, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Carter County, a son of the late John and Ora Brammer Callihan.

Charles attended Henderson Branch Christian Holiness Church and retired from Harbison Walker Brickyard. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Henderson Callihan; one son, Albert Callihan; three daughters, Lena Mae Callihan, Linda Lou Hicks and Dorothy Waugh; three sons-in-law, Cleo Hicks, Glendal Hardeman and Virgil "Buck" Waugh; two grandchildren, Albert Callihan II and Kelly Waugh Moore; eight brothers, Curry Callihan, Delbert Callihan, Dickie Callihan, Gomer Callihan, Bethel Callihan, Tommy Callihan, Homer Callihan and Otha Callihan; and five sisters, Anna Belle Foxwell, Nannie Lawson, Marceline Callihan, Helen Dockins and Geraldine Callihan.

Charles is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gail "Buddy" Callihan and Roy and Jennifer Callihan, all of Olive Hill; one daughter-in-law, Charlene Callihan of Olive Hill; six grandchildren, Kim, Jeanetta, Glenda, Karen, Eddie and Gail; 17 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, David, Daniel, Jameelah, Justin, Paige, Stevie, Tonya, Brandon, Albert, Katelynn, Jacob, Lytisha, Jaymie, Corrissa and Austin; nine great-great-grandchildren, Jayde, Madeline, Vincent, Hayden, Lucas, Madilyn, Mason, Kaden and Dixie, and three more on the way; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Callihan of Olive Hill and Archie and Louise Callihan of Olive Hill; one sister, Lillian Peno Knipp of Dayton, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Taylor of Charleston, W.Va. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Dave Logston and Brother Clyde Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Watson Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, and until the service hour Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Roy Callihan, Gail "Buddy" Callihan, Gail Lee Callihan, Robert Steven Tackett, Charles Eddie Callihan and Justin Tackett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all grandsons and brickyard friends.
