3/24/14 — Dora Mae Archer Starbuck, 84, of Ashland, passed away Sunday evening, March 23, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born April 1, 1929, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Howard C. and Ettie Mae Ferguson Archer.
Dora attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Raceland and worked for many years at Anchor Hocking Glassware in the shipping office and quality control. She loved quilting, crafting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Cecil Vern Starbuck; one brother, Corbie Archer; and one sister, Barbara Alice Archer.
Dora is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Kathy Starbuck of Ashland; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy and Lucille Archer of Haldeman, Robert "Bob" Archer of Trotwood, Ohio, and Willie Archer of Olive Hill; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce and J. R. Adkins of Ashland and Gale Owens of Olive Hill; one brother-in-law, Glen Starbuck and his wife Esther of Richmond, Ind.; and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Wright of Zionsville, Ind. She also leaves her special quilting buddy friends in Georgia and Kentucky, along with many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Bob Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Hill Memorial Park.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, and until the service hour Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 1538 Central Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
