8/12/13 — Rosemary Hilger Shoemaker, 85, of Mansfield, Ohio, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 10, 2013, at Kingston of Ashland. She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Carter County to the late Della and Charles Edward Hilger.

Rosemary enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening, but her passion was in being a wonderful wife and mother to her family. She was a charter member of First Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, James Shoemaker; two sons, Charles "Chuck" (Carol) Shoemaker of Mansfield and Randy (Sue) Shoemaker of Cincinnati; a daughter, Melinna Thatcher of Indiana; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva (Ray) Ash of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Thelma Hunter of Portsmouth, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Commie Hilger.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

The family would like to invite friends and relatives to First Wesleyan Church, 1908 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, for a luncheon and time of fellowship following the committal. Memorial contributions may be made to First Wesleyan Church.
