9/30/13 — Lee Rodgers, 90, of Orchard Avenue, Olive Hill, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013, at Edgewood Manor in Lucasville, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Carter County, a son of the late George and Rose Bishop Rodgers.
Lee was a member of the Olive Hill First Church of the Nazarene and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Lee was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge No. 629.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maggie Dehart Rodgers, and two brothers, Eugene Rodgers and Henry Logan Rodgers.
Lee is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Capitola and D. H. Hillman of Olive Hill; a special nephew, Charles Boggs and his wife Wilma of Olive Hill, who were his caregivers; and a special great-niece, Mary Sparks of Olive Hill, who also cared for him. Lee also leaves other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Gary Sparks and Brother James Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, and until the service hour Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Danny Fitch, Billy Don Rice, Gary Sammons, Mike Rodgers, Logan Rodgers, Terry Rodgers and Gary Knipp will serve as pallbearers. Billy "Cat Hair" Waggoner will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
